One for any position within the Police Department and the other is for any other City position. Applications must be filled out in full. If submitting a resume, an application is still required. Police Officer-Patrolman

Become a full time officer with benefits - health and life insurance, pension, vacation, holiday pay and overtime. This is an Entry-level position and shift work is required. Candidates must be able to successfully pass a written exam, fitness agility, psychological screening, polygraph exam, medical exam and drug screen. High school diploma required. All applicants are subject to a criminal history background check. Candidates with State of Delaware certification may seek a waiver on the written exam and are encouraged to apply. SEASONAL POLICE CADET

Do you have the desire to provide professional and impartial service to your community? If so, the City of Seaford is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of seasonal police cadet.

Salary
: $17.00 per hour/part-time
Location: Seaford Police Department

Job Description and Responsibilities:

  • patrol assigned areas in the downtown Seaford area to enforce City of Seaford ordinances.
  • Process prisoners, including completing required paperwork and operating live scan image computer.
  • Issue summons to ordinance violators and completes arrest reports as needed.
  • Assist police personnel as directed.
  • Assist with administrative and operation goals of the department.
  • Conduct bicycle, foot patrols, and business checks.

Eligibility Standards:
If you do not meet the minimum eligibility standards, you will not be considered for the seasonal cadet positions.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or be a high school senior participating in the Seaford Police Department intern program.
  • 19 years of age by April 1, 2024
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Pass an in-depth background investigation
  • Pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
  • Pass a physical fitness test
  • Pass a 4 week-end (Fri, Sat, Sun) training course and bicycle course- located in Rehoboth Beach
  • Training starts April 19, 2024
