Senior Tax Exemption

SENIOR TAX EXEMPTION

The City of Seaford offers a property tax exemption(reduction) to seniors on their annual tax bill, who meet the criteria listed below.  Senior Citizen Tax Applications are available starting March of each year.

A resident property owner of the City of Seaford who has reached 65 years of age, and meets the following criteria:
Shall be a resident property owner of the City of Seaford for ten (10) years; Has an income not in excess of nine thousand dollars ($9,000) per year or, if married or partners in a civil union, an aggregate income for husband and wife or partners not in excess of thirteen thousand dollars ($13,000) per year; Shall reside in a dwelling owned by him/her which is a constituent part of his real property; Has submitted all necessary forms prior to filing deadline; shall be entitled, to exemption from taxation on such real estate to an assessed valuation not exceeding the average value of all single family residential properties or as set by Council.

A resident property owner of the City of Seaford who has reached 85 years of age, and meets the following criteria: Shall be a resident property owner of the City of Seaford for ten (10) years; Has an income not in excess of nine thousand dollars ($9,000) per year or, if married or partners in a civil union, an aggregate income for husband and wife or partners not in excess of thirteen thousand dollars ($13,000) per year; Shall reside in a dwelling owned by him/her which is a constituent part of his real property; Has submitted all necessary forms prior to filing deadline; shall be entitled, to full exemption from taxation.
